Choosing a Chemistry Lab Report Example
Choosing a Chemistry Lab Report ExampleThere are lots of examples of labs in the book, but what is the best chemistry lab report example for each kind of chemistry? In order to get an answer to this question, you need to first understand the nature of each type of laboratory. This is an important step if you are trying to understand how to write a chemistry lab report, because it helps you determine which examples are best to use and which are not. When I was a chemistry major in college, I used to read a lot of books in order to prepare for lab reports. One of the books I read was a book about lab reports. The book had a chapter about test-taking techniques and another chapter about lab reports. I always loved reading this book because I could find lots of examples of laboratory reports by working from their examples. This is why I feel it is important to choose a chemistry lab report example that is based on real experiments. Examples that are based on fictional situations only teach students how to come up with a fictional story rather than teaching them how to do research. I cannot stress enough the importance of reading real examples to help students learn. This is also why I think it is a bad idea to use a chemistry lab report example that is too general. It doesn't teach students how to be more specific, and a more specific lab report would probably not be very useful to them.In order to get a good chemistry lab report example, you should start off by writing down what you want your lab report to contain. This is the first step in determining the examples you should use.You should also look at the examples that are found in the book that you are reading, as well as examples of examples found online. Although I am sure you will be able to find plenty of examples, it is possible that the ones you find on the internet may not be the ones you need. After looking at the examples that you have found, it is possible that you will be able to determine what type of e xamples are best. For example, some lab report examples in the book are of students doing experiments and recording results. By writing down exactly what you want in your lab report, you can then go and find the examples of this type.Another factor to keep in mind when choosing a chemistry lab report example is the use of figures. Some examples use diagrams to help explain experiments, but I feel that diagrams are best used when the experiment is only one or two figures. You can also use diagrams when writing out a complicated experiment in order to help your students learn.

Thanksgiving Study Catch-Up Time - TutorNerds
Thanksgiving Study Catch-Up Time - TutorNerds Catch-Up on Your Studies This Thanksgiving The Thanksgiving holiday is an opportunity to rest and relax as well as spend time with family and friends. However, some students who are in their college application process need some of this time to catch up on important materials. Some students will have the entire week off, while some school districts only offer Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as a holiday (READ: 7 Tips For Studying While Traveling). Students sometimes find themselves staying up late, cramming the night before a big exam, or frantically writing papers just before they are due. Many students find that they can use the Thanksgiving holiday to get caught up. Here are the top five ways to get caught up over Thanksgiving without giving up valued family time: One â" Create an outline Students who are either juniors or seniors have probably already made a study outline at the beginning of the school year, however, now that the school year is nearly half over, many students find that they have veered away from their timeline or have forgotten it altogether. Students can take one hour out of their holiday and create an outline for success that will tell them which days they need to study which subjects. Just 60 minutes of organization can be very helpful when students return to school the Monday after Thanksgiving. Two â" Work on test prep Seniors have already had their last chance to take their SAT or ACT prior to sending in college applications, however, many juniors are taking the ACT or the SAT in December or February. This week may be a good time to spend a few hours reviewing test prep with your Orange County private tutor. For students who have the entire week off, spending three or four hours on Monday or Tuesday can be very beneficial. For example, Monday would be a good time to take an entire full length practice test and email your tutor your practice score (READ: Cracking the ACT Science Section). Most students dont have time to do a full length test during the week but its important for the tutor to have a practice score to help expedite their studentsâ progress. Students who dont have the entire week off may consider doing a couple of sections instead of an entire test. Students with less time should consider doing one of each section and adding the scores up to get a possible composite. Three â" Get organized for AP exams Although it doesnt seem like it, the May AP exams are not that far away. AP students are well into their classes at this point and should have an idea of how difficult the material is. Students who are on the trimester system will also be getting their second trimester grade very soon. It is a good idea for students to use the Thanksgiving holiday to buy test prep books as it only takes a few minutes to order them online and have them delivered to their homes. If students order the books now, they will have a chance to go over a few of the practice prompts or practice exams prior to going back to school. Students who are taking AP classes without the assistance of a tutor should assess whether or not they can still do this all the way until May. If its necessary to call a tutor, theres still plenty of time to arrange for a January study session. Four â" Work on extracurricular activities Juniors and seniors who are short on volunteer hours needed for graduation can spend some of this time volunteering (READ: Extra Curricular Activities For Your College Resume). Almost every charitable organization needs help serving food to families in need on Thanksgiving Day. There are also charitable organizations that need help throughout the end of December and so its a good time to spend an hour or two doing an Internet search on volunteermatch.com or another reputable volunteer website. Five â" Rest is also important Some students may find that the best thing they can do to enhance the quality of their schoolwork is to simply rest and relax. Many college prep students spend an insane amount of hours per week preparing for college and simply need a break. If this sounds familiar, just enjoy the week. Take the five or seven days and use it to recharge. Get eight or nine hours of sleep and, if you live in California, enjoy the outdoors. Eat three regular, healthy meals per day and get some exercise. Some students will find that they go back to school on Monday feeling much better about the remainder of the year. Even students who wish they had more of a break can be reassured that the winter holiday is not far away. All blog entries, with the exception of guest bloggers, are written by Tutor Nerds. Organic Chemistry Reflux - Does It Exist?
Organic Chemistry Reflux - Does It Exist?Organic Chemistry Reflux - does it really exist? I've read some statements on the Internet that it does exist, but nothing backed up by any proof. Therefore, I'm going to look into it.Organic Chemistry Reflux occurs when the food you're eating is not properly digested or broken down by the digestive tract, and so it settles in the esophagus. This is usually with the food being too long in transit to digest properly, and other factors, such as too much hydrogen and/or oxygen being in the food. However, other factors also contribute. Some of the symptoms are sometimes indigestion, and a bad taste. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and/or blood in the stool. Most commonly, the doctor will tell you to avoid this food for a few days. One problem with this is that there are many other foods out there that you probably can eat, as well as there's no way you're going to know what exactly they are.The other problem is that it can become confusing because you might find a food that's been put on the banned list because it causes more problems than it solves. Or it might not be what you thought it was, so you have to keep switching back and forth between ingredients, trying to figure out which one is the real culprit. For this reason, it's often a good idea to get a dietician to advice you on the right food to eat, and you should always be sure that you've made the switch back and forth. If you don't eat the right food, you can experience a lot of discomfort, as well as sometimes serious complications. If you do happen to suffer from this, it may help to think about the overall population at large, as well as all the other foods you've been eating. These are not the only sources of food for you, or even the best source for you.Natural foods are always better for you, as they come from the soil and don't rely on chemical additives. For most people, when they can't eat something, it's usually because of it being bad for them. So, this doesn't mean that you're going to have to get all miserable if you eat organic foods.

Solving absolute value inequalities
Solving absolute value inequalities Absolute value of any number whether its negative or positive represents only its positive version. Absolute value is actually the distance of the number from the center and is denoted by | |(modulus sign). Hence absolute value is never negative. Absolute value is the magnitude of the number not the sign. Absolute value equation contains the variables and numbers with the absolute value sign in it. Example 1: Solve for the variable x in the inequality | 3x | 9? Solution: Given is the equation |3x| 9. Here the unknown variable which needs to be solved for is x. First step: The absolute value gives two cases; 3x 9; 3x -9. Dividing by 3 on both sides of the given equation. (3x)/ 3 9/3; (3x)/ 3 -9/ 3. This gives x 3; x -3. Hence the solution contains two intervals x 3 and x -3. Example 2: Solve for the variable x in the inequality | 5x + 1| 21? Solution: Given is the equation |5x + 1| 21. Here the unknown variable which needs to be solved for is x. First step: The absolute value gives two cases; 5x + 1 21; 5x + 1 -21. Subtracting 1 on both sides. 5x 20; 5x -22. Dividing by 5 on both sides of the given equation, x 20/5; x -22/5 This gives x 4; x -22/5. Hence the solution contains two intervals x 4 and x -4.4.

Musicians, Is Your Home Practice Space Holding You Back
Musicians, Is Your Home Practice Space Holding You Back Suzy S. Youve got your instrument, your sheet music, and your books. Youve found a great music teacher to guide you. But lets take a look at your home practice space. Could it be holding you back? Learn how to improve it with these tips from piano teacher Eric B A few years ago I had a student who was struggling to improve. She was practicing more than I asked, but every week brought in mediocre versions of the songs I assigned. We tried different techniques for months with no success. A few months passed and we did an online lesson when I was on tour. I was shocked to see where she was practicing: the piano was in a hallway, and her siblings were running back and forth by her while she tried to play. Because the space was too tight, she was squashed against the keys. The only light came from a bare bulb in the hallway, and there was a massive pile of toys on the piano. This poor girl had one thing standing between her talent and becoming a great musician: a terrible practice space. Having an amazing practice room that keeps you focused is essential to consistent improvement. Here are seven ways you can spice up your music practice space: 1. Get great lighting. Make sure that the room you practice in is well-lit. I love practicing in naturally lit rooms, with a simple piano stand light on the piano so I can see my sheet music. If itâs too dark in the room you may fight fatigue sooner than if your room is brightly illuminated. 2. Have a cell phone shelf outside your practice room. Get a cheap wall-mounted car key holder and place your phone on it each time you go into your practice room. This will keep you from getting distracted during practice sessions. If you place a charger by the wall holder, youâll have the added reward of a fully charged phone when you leave. 3. Declutter. The fewer items in the room, the less likely youâll be to get distracted. Move all items that donât relate to music to other rooms, and your mind will relax and focus on the task at hand. 4. Get a kitchen timer. Now that youâve decluttered your room, youâll need to keep track of your practice time. Use a cheap kitchen timer to help you stay focused while youâre practicing. Take a look at bunch of great options here. Get a metronome. Metronomes are the least expensive way to improve your rhythm, and having one by your piano or keyboard will encourage you to use it daily. Here are a few inexpensive but quality metronomes to consider. 6. Bring a water bottle and a high-protein snack. Most instrumentalists will burn calories while playing, so make sure you keep your energy levels high. I love snacking on nuts or a protein bar while I play, and a big 32 oz. bottle of water by the piano (cap on to prevent spills) helps me stay hydrated. 7. Put a practice calendar on your wall. I recommend keeping track of your music practice on a calendar. This will give you a visual reminder of how consistent youâve been with your practicing. Then, set rewards for yourself after a certain number of consecutive practices. I love getting coffee, so I go out and get my favorite cappuccino after 10 days of practice. Get creative! Fortunately, thereâs a happy ending to my piano student struggling to learn in a hallway. After talking with my studentâs parents, they made some big changes. They converted part of the dining room in their house into a practice space, adding a special bookshelf and colorful music-themed decorations. She switched from struggling to excelling in a matter of weeks. If youâre investing time and money into music lessons, give yourself the best shot at succeeding in the practice room. If you make the effort, it might just pay off in a lifetime love of playing music. Majoring in Music How to Nail Your Guitar Audition
Majoring in Music How to Nail Your Guitar Audition Megan L. Is a music major in your academic future? Guitar teacher Brett M. shares 10 things you need to know to have a great guitar audition at the music college of your choice If youâre a guitarist whoâs planning to continue your music education at the college level, then this may be one of the most important articles you could ever read. In fact, itâs something that I wish I could have read, before auditioning and (luckily) getting accepted into Berklee College of Music over a dozen years ago. Letâs meet someone His name is Dwayne, and like you (and me, back in the day) he is interested in majoring in music. Dwayne loves to play guitar, and heâs passionate about learning more. Heâs a sophomore in high school, and has played in a couple of bands off and on. Dwayneâs not a huge jazz guy, but heâs thinking about trying out for the school jazz band, just to get the playing experience but heâs not too sure heâd know what to play. Dwayneâs got above-average technique on the guitar and he knows he wants to get faster, but thatâs about as specific as he could say. Heâs also got a feeling that thereâs a lot more to learn about scales, chords, etc. In fact, his overall knowledge of how everything fits together is a bit sketchy. But heâs hungry to learn all there is to know, and is planning on attending music college for guitar after graduation. Problem is, heâs not too sure what heâll need to know to get in, and heâs a little worried about it. Actually, hes a lot worried. Sound familiar? If so, then read on â" youâre about to find out the 10 Guitar Strategies For a Successful College Audition! 1. Have The Right Reasons If youâre really serious about wanting to attend college for guitar (and then making a go at a career in music) youâd better be doing it for the right reasons. Here are two of the wrong reasons: I want to be famous. I want to make a lot of money. Those two things may in fact happen to you, and if they do, GREAT! But to have a sustainable, lifelong relationship with music one that continues even when the going gets tough thereâd better be more behind your desire. For me, I simply couldnât (and still canât) not do music. The desire to create, to challenge yourself, to deepen your character, and to share music with others is what will fuel a successful and sustainable music career in college and after. Do it for the right reasons for long enough, and getting rich and famous (while more importantly, being fulfilled) could actually happen. Hereâs a wakeup call for you: Even if you go to music college and decide to major in performance (in other words, in playing guitar) the majority of work that you do, especially for the first two years, will not be on playing guitar. You must be willing and excited to spend a lot of time away from the guitar, learning about all aspects of music. If you donât enjoy this part, you wonât last. Examples of all the fun stuff that comes with learning about music include: ear training, text book music theory, music analysis, conducting, music history, arranging, and solfeggio (sight singing). You need to crave knowledge about all of these things, or donât even bother. Sound harsh? Not if youâve got what it takes! If hearing this actually gets you excited to be in an environment like that, then music college is probably a good fit for you. It definitely was for me. 2. Know Your Audience For a contemporary music college, the application process usually involves sending an audition tape of music âfrom the standard repertoireâ. In my case, not really knowing what this meant at the time (and being a metal guy!) I chose to play an intro to a Testament song by Alex Skolnick, whoâs a pretty rippinâ player. I figured that if a song was from a CD I had, then it must be âfrom the standard repertoireâ. I pulled it off alright, but in hindsight it was kind of a dumb idea to choose a song like that. You see, while Berklee and many other music schools certainly embrace many kinds of music, they are historically jazz institutions. So, what theyâre often really looking for are pieces that demonstrate your ability to improvise a bit, play chord solos, interpret melodies, etc. In other words, start learning to play jazz music from âthe standard repertoireâ (out of a big book of songs called âThe Real Bookâ). Even though my audition turned out okay, if I had to do it again, I would have been smarter to choose some performance pieces designed to achieve a specific goal in this case, impressing the instructors at a âjazz schoolâ and not just choosing music that I thought was impressive. 3. Listen Start to immerse yourself in music daily, and not just the styles that are your current favorites (Iâm still a metal guy!). Listen especially to classical music from all time periods, as well as jazz. You will absolutely pick up and absorb some important musical concepts simply through osmosis. Check out Jamey Aebersoldâs extensive library of CDs for jazz students, great learning tools even if you donât understand what heâs talking about yet. Theyâre mostly for putting on and listening to while youâre doing other stuff, and getting used to the sounds of jazz harmony and soloing. And, if you listen to Bach or Beethoven every day, you will reap rewards aâplenty! 4. Watch I dont just mean to watch random videos on YouTube! Iâm talking about getting your hands on some good guitar instructional videos, preferably some no-nonsense ones from the late 80s or early 90s, put out by the companies REH or Alfred. Be sure to check some out some killer guitarists who are way over your head, like Scott Henderson, Al DiMeola, Allan Holdsworth, Greg Howe, and Frank Gambale. Donât fret if you canât understand anything theyâre talking about (a lot of these guys play great, but couldnât teach their way out of a paper bag)! Whatâs important is to start getting an idea about what skills are out there that you donât know about yet. These types of videos will help you figure out where your weak points are and the areas of knowledge or technical ability that you need the most work on. They can be equally inspirational and frustrating! 5. Know Your Notes Knowing notes is more than simply reading them on the page. Its about actually finding and understanding them with the guitar. One of the biggest problems that plagues most guitar players is not having all of the notes on the neck memorized. Everything that you do, especially at the college level, has to do with notes. So does it make sense to not know where they are on the guitar? Of course not. Itâs absolutely essential knowledge for a serious player. 6. Scale Knowledge Memorizing scales on the guitar is of immense importance. There are six âfamiliesâ of scales (including all of their modes) that you must know to play contemporary music: Major Melodic Minor Harmonic Minor Diminished Whole Tone Pentatonic Knowing the fingerings and shapes on the neck is an important first step. But the actual ability to build them in your head in any key, to know the sound, and to start them from anywhere on the neck is vital for reading, improvisation, and writing. Itâs a big task, but one that every aspiring college guitar student needs to tackle. 7. Chord Knowledge Understanding how to build chords, from triads to extended harmony chords like E7susb9 and other weird ones, is an absolutely essential skill to master before attending college for guitar. Analysis of chord progressions is a necessary skill for really understanding how songs work and how theyâre structured. Chord and scale relationships also help you understand how to play or improvise over daunting chord progressions (like Dm7b5 â"G7alt â"CmMaj7) and actually sound like you know what youâre doing! This will give you an edge over your competition when applying or auditioning for music school not to mention an increase in confidence. 8. Arpeggios Arpeggios are the same as chords, but played one note at a time. They help you unlock the potential of chords as a resource for soloing, and itâs important to be able to build and play them all over the neck, including everything from the standard major and minors, to the 7th arpeggios and all of the extended harmony arpeggios (9ths, 11ths, etc.). 9. Sight Reading and Rhythm Reading Whatâs the best way to get a guitar player to turn down? Put sheet music in front of him! Itâs a joke, but completely true. Reading music (and especially rhythm) is one of the biggest blind spots for most guitar players, and it will be a major handicap for you if youâre thinking about continuing your education at the college level. So why hide from your fear? Tackle it head on! I find that rhythm really intimidates many of my guitar students. It can look like a foreign language with all those beams and squiggles and dots. But itâs really not that bad when you have the proper guidance. After that, reading the pitches on the music staff isnât that hard at all, it just takes some practice. Being a strong reader is very impressive to the people youâll be auditioning for, so it pays to spend the time getting good at it. 10. Technical Ability and Speed Believe it or not, when it comes to getting into a music college for guitar, your raw technical ability and speed arenât as important as some of the other areas that weâve mentioned. You donât have to be a shred master but why not go for it anyway! It canât hurt. Playing fast is a goal for many guitarists, and increasing your technical skill will add to your confidence and ability to impress at the college level. So, is your guitar teacher preparing you for all this stuff? If not, show them the door! For many students, finding a top-quality guitar teacher is one of the first steps on the road to majoring in music. Remember, thereâs a lot of competition to fill those limited spaces in the school that you want to get into. Hereâs the good news though: If youâve got a good work ethic, a passion for learning about all aspects of music and the guitar, and a great teacher with experience in all of this, then getting into the music college of your dreams is a thoroughly achievable goal. Good luck â" and keep practicing! Post Author: Brett M. Brett is a guitar book author, metal recording artist, and video game composer. The higher your level, the higher level of client you can train and the more you can charge for your training. The most expensive coaches tend to be those with a lot of experience, qualifications, and a plethora of happy clients whoâve recommended them to others.Factoring Costs into Your RatesAnother factor to take into account when considering your rates is the cost of travel or renting a room, for example. You don't want to be making a loss at the end of each session. (Source: xusenru)A private boxing coach can travel to their clientâs houses but they do need to consider the costs when deciding upon their rates. After all, youâll be paying for fuel, public transport, renting a vehicle, etc. These costs can add up, especially if you live rurally and are regularly travelling long distances to your customers. In larger cities, there tends to be a lot of public transport available and with the right travel pass, each journey will work out costing you very little. The less you pay on transport, the more competitive you can make your rates. If you live in the country, youâll probably have to drive to your customerâs houses or a gym and will regularly be paying for fuel. You might want to limit how far youâre willing to travel or charge a supplementary fee to those a certain distance from where you live. Youâll have to decide whether or not this is worth it in terms of time and mone y spent and whether or not you can recuperate these costs and still charge a fair hourly rate.Of course, the client can always come to you. In this case, you wonât need to worry about the cost of transport but you may need to invest in the necessary equipment for your home.Another option is to train in a gym or boxing club and rent a private room with all the necessary equipment. You need enough space to train, boxing gloves, punching bags, etc. Fitness boxing requires very little equipment, but if youâre teaching boxing, kick-boxing, Thai boxing, or savate, youâll need things like skipping ropes for cardio warm-ups, weights, punching bags, speed bags, etc. However, you mightnât be able to fit all this in a central London flat. If this applies to you, youâll need to consider how much it costs to rent a room in a gym or boxing club.Learn more about online boxing coaching sites. Will You Be Providing Boxing EquipmentYou need to be in good shape if you want to box. A lot of po tential clients will get in touch wanting to learn how to box or get into shape and you might want to offer them a trial session. You'll need to factor into your rates whether or not you provide equipment. (Source: Mcability)Of course, in a trial session, they wonât be boxing but rather working on technique, fitness, and endurance. How will they know if they like boxing and whether or not they should invest in the gear?A boxing training session isnât just a great way to get rid of stress, stretch, build muscle, and improve your cardio performance. If youâre taking it seriously, youâll need a mouth shield, skipping ropes, punching bags, etc. If you provide this equipment to your customers (except mouth guards or cups, obviously), itâll give them more of an opportunity to stick with boxing before they have to make the investment themselves. Make sure you factor these outgoings into your rates.Think about offering special rates to those who opt to pay for several sessions at once. You could free session after 10 or 20 sessions, for example. You could even offer a free pair of boxing gloves to clients who make it to their 20th session. So how much are you thinking of charging for your boxing sessions?Whether you're offering a Muay Thai, kickboxing, or a boxing class, the same rules apply. Every professional boxing trainer needs to think carefully about setting their rates as this will affect how they can run their business and how many customers they get.Since, as a boxing coach, you'll have a lot of transferrable skills, you can always offer a variety of services for different rates. For example, you could offer a high-intensity boxing workout class where the goal is to get fit or get in shape (rather than become a boxer). While most boxing classes will involve a part where you focus on techniques like sparring, throwing punches (jab, uppercut, hook, cross, etc), working heavy bags, and strength training, boxing workouts focus on the aerobic aspects of boxing and are very popular types of fitness classes.
